About Sinem Bertling

As an immigrant educator, I am passionate for equity and inclusivity to make a positive impact on students' lives. My 21-year career in education has spanned two countries, including 10 years in administrative roles at the middle school level, 8 years mostly at the high school level as a school counselor and 2 years serving K-12 as an assessment specialist where I coached teachers rather than working directyly with students. With a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Educational Sciences, focused on Educational Measurement and Evaluation, I possess a deep understanding of assessment and data-driven instruction. I also completed additional training in K-5 classroom teaching and another master's degree in School Counseling. I received my school administrator education at Edgewood College in Madison. Throughout my career, I have developed expertise in- Curriculum development and evaluation - Assessment and data analysis - Educational leadership and administration - Counseling and student support services - Teacher training and professional development During my career at the School Distirct of Beloit, I have developed expertise in culturally responsive teaching, restorative justice practices and equity-focused policy development. The seeds of my expertise in equity, culturally responsive teaching and restorative practices were planted during my graduate degree in School Counseling. I also have a deep understanding of the Educator Effectiveness model and have served as an evaluator for the last 6 years in my building. One of my duties in my current school is collaborating with the pupil services team in the provision of S.E.L curriculum and the tiered S.E.L intervention services. I strongly believe in establishing strong community partnerships for a more successful learning environment. I am confident that my unique blend of teaching, counseling, assessment and administrative experiences makes me an ideal candidate for any administrative postion.
