Background
About Siomonn Pulla
Siomonn is committed to innovative strategic research grounded in social responsibility, with the potential to be applied around the world. His primary focus is on participatory and collaborative research, Corporate-Indigenous relations, and alternative learning systems. He is especially passionate about supporting Indigenous peoples' access to adequate and appropriate tools for learning. An important aspect of his current research is the emerging intersections between technology and educational programming, especially in the delivery of curriculum and programs to remote, rural, and under-developed communities; and in support of Indigenous language revitalization efforts. Siomonn is also an expert in the field of Indigenous-settler relations, with a focus on issues of historic and contemporary land use and occupancy; legal and regulatory frameworks supporting Indigenous rights; and socio-economic development. His goal is to support long-term and meaningful partnerships between Indigenous peoples, the corporate private sector, and government regimes in pursuit of sustainable major resource development projects. He has extensive experience leading complex research projects in support of comprehensive land claims, major resource and heavy industry clients, and the public sector. And he also specializes in applied and collaborative anthropology, strategic policy work, stakeholder engagement, and developing, implementing, and managing complex research portfolios. His life purpose as a scholar is to engage, inspire and empower people to create social change. Specialties: Interdisciplinary teaching and research with an emphasis on the broad areas of Indigenous issues, Corporate Indigenous relations, collaborative and participatory research, mobile and e-learning, Canadian studies, human rights, governance, collaborative and legal anthropology, advocacy and applied anthropology and colonial and post-colonial studies.
