About Siteri Tikoca

Experienced indigenous conservation biologist with a demonstrated history of conducting various scientific research and management projects with indigenous communities and schools in Fiji to conserve their unique and yet mostly threatened natural resources. The area of specialisation for my Masters research was the ecology and taxonomy of macro-moths in Fiji. My undergraduate degree was in Marine Biology, hence I have a broad experience studying both plants and animals in the marine, coastal and terrestrial habitats of Fiji. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate working on understanding the ecological needs and roles of endangered native microbats in Fiji in order to inform effective management strategies to prevent their extinction. Relevant work experience: Insect, endangered native plants and mammal surveys and collections, specimen identification and curation, environmental impact assessments and biodiversity assessments, as well as community engagement, awareness, and advocacy. I also have experience in drafting recovery plans, rehabilitation plans, bioinformatics, and IUCN global red listing of plants and bats. I am skilled in all aspects of project management and implementation from proposal writing, logistics, finance control, project implementation, data analysis and reporting.
