About Sivakumar Mathada

I began my professional journey as an Airman in the Indian Air Force from April 1984, where I had the honour of serving the nation for 11 years. Even during my time in uniform, the pursuit of academics remained close to my heart. This commitment led me to successfully complete M.A. in Public Administration, LL.B, and a two-year Graduate Diploma in Materials Management — all while continuing my duties in the I.A.F. Upon opting for voluntary discharge, I transitioned into the corporate sector by joining the Reliance Refinery Project in Jamnagar, Gujarat, where I worked for two years during its high-intensity project execution stage. My shift from materials management to academics and institutional administration began with my role at the Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune, where I served as Registrar for four years during the institute’s formative phase. My responsibilities included streamlining the admissions process, overseeing student placements, and playing a pivotal role in establishing the SCMHRD Nashik campus as well as shifting the SCMHRD Pune campus. Recognizing my contribution, I was appointed as the first Controller of Examinations at Symbiosis International University (SIU), where I introduced systematic reforms in examination planning and execution. These initiatives led to hassle-free and error-free academic assessments, along with the successful organization of University convocations. During the NAAC Peer Team visit, I was entrusted with dual responsibilities as the Controller of Examinations and officiating Registrar — a proud moment that culminated in SIU being awarded 'A' Grade Accreditation. I was subsequently promoted to Registrar, a position I held for nearly two years. In April 2011, I took on the role of Founding Registrar at Alliance University, Bangalore, and was later elevated to Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) in August 2016, serving the university until August 2017. In September 2017, I joined the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU) as the Chief of Administration, completing my first term on 30th April 2023. I was subsequently reappointed in the same capacity from 1st May 2023, and continued to serve the Institute with dedication until the completion of my final tenure in June 2025. As I now prepare to transition into a new chapter, I carry forward with me the legacy of disciplined service, academic reform, and institution-building — values that will continue to guide my journey ahead.
