About Siwei Chen

I am a research assistant at Stony Brook University and a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering. My research focuses on developing novel biofiltration systems for nitrogen removal from onsite wastewater, which is a critical challenge for water quality and public health. I have a master's degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst and a bachelor's degree in Ecology from Northeast Normal University. I have strong skills in ion chromatography, proposal writing, and wastewater treatment design.As a research assistant, I have contributed to multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, presenting innovative solutions for onsite wastewater treatment. I have also received several honors and awards, including the 1st place in the Student Paper Competition at NYWEA 95th Annual Meeting and the Research Merit Award in Civil Engineering Department. I am passionate about applying my knowledge and skills to address environmental issues and improve human well-being. I value collaboration, creativity, and diversity in my work, and I seek to join a team that shares these values and goals. I believe that I can bring a unique perspective and experience to the team, as I have a multidisciplinary background in ecology, environmental engineering, and microbiology, and I am fluent in both English and Chinese.
