About Skander Essafi

Medical doctor graduated from the University of Sousse, Tunisia, with a master degree in health economics and management (EU-HEM), working as Clinical Evaluation Officer at the Dutch Ophthalmic Research Center (DORC), a ZEISS company, since September 2024. Over 5 years of combined experience in primary healthcare, public health, innovation and policy research, as well as clinical evaluation for medical devices. Great passion for public health, research and health and patient impact monitoring in several settings and specialties. Strong interest for mixing clinical, research and policy work at the primary care level, with a particular focus in antimicrobial stewardship, multidisciplinary collaboration, health promotion and policy. Got involved at the Tunisian Medical Students Association (Associa-Med) and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) with leadership positions for over 5 years at different levels via workshops, campaigns, external and community interventions. Acted from 2015 to 2017 as Liaison Officer for Public Health Issues and focal point on non-communicable diseases, climate and health, family medicine etc. followed by multiple roles in research projects at the local and national level (Antimicrobial Stewardship, Diabetes in primary care, strengthening primary care, health system evaluation etc.).
