About Skip Berry

As a partner in Roots to Blossoms Entertainment, LLC, I help conceive and develop nonfiction TV projects, with a specific focus on Black songwriters and recording artists. I create pitch decks and project synopses, manage project development, and pitch projects to sponsors and production partners. I'm also a screenwriter with numerous feature screenplays and TV pilot scripts on my resume. Additionally, I am a strategic marketing and communications freelancer, helping cultural institutions and foundations with projects ranging from annual reports and organizational histories to educational materials, case statements, and video scripts. Among my clients are The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the largest museum of its type in the world; the Indianapolis Art Center, one of the oldest continually operating community art centers in the U.S; and the Lilly Endowment, one of the nation’s most respected charitable foundations. A former freelance journalist, I've written for newspaper and magazines around the country; I also spent 12 years as a staff writer for a daily newspaper. In addition, I've written or co-written several nonfiction books, including histories of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Public Library, the Herron School of Art and Design, and the Indianapolis Art Center. I also helped create a comprehensive online history for The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
