About Skip Kelly
Skip Kelly was born in Washington, DC and has lived in the nation's capital almost his entire life. After high school at Sidwell Friends, he attended Brown University majoring in Political Science and Communications. After college, he was publicist for the National Conference of Black Mayors, coordinating media interviews, press conferences, newsletters and videos. For 25 years, he was partner at television production company On The Potomac Productions, where he was co-producer and writer for several acclaimed television documentaries about contemporary African American history, including “Believe: The Barack Obama Story”, “Martin Luther King: The Making of a Holiday”, “Million Man March Story” and “James Brown: The Man, The Music & The Message.” He was co-producer and narrator of another documentary “The Power of Soul” about the powerful impact and legacy of James Brown. In addition, he was promoter of concerts by James Brown and other musical legends including George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Rick James and Charlie Wilson. Skip Kelly is currently promoting concerts and other events at the popular venue Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club.
