About Skyla Cameron

I am a dedicated biologist and educator with a strong background in conducting wildlife and plant surveys in California, particularly Southern California, for two years. With over a decade of experience in restoration work and nesting bird surveys, complemented by two advanced degrees from the East Coast, I aspire to integrate research, education, and consulting seamlessly. My focus is on making a meaningful impact in my field through dedication and expertise. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from the University of New Hampshire and and Master’s Degree in Wildlife Management and Conservation from Unity College. Along with my extensive field and environmental education experience on both coasts of the United States, I have formal science education experience. Earlier in my career I have worked as a lead conservation technician leading crews on invasive species removal, restoration ecology, and trail building; as a research assistant pursuing intensive behavioral field research on Black & White Ruffed Lemurs and as a Reforestation Technician in Madagascar; as a Naturalist Educator for the Conejo Valley Unified School District, teaching students about the local southwest environment and ecology; as a remote research assistant conducting literature reviews and pursuing research grants; a formal science teacher in Berkeley; and as a shorebird biologist collecting breeding season data to support the conservation of protected shorebirds.
