About Skylar Barnes

I am a recent graduate of Virginia State University, where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice, Cum Laude. I chose to further my education, recently graduating with my Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice Administration and Management, also at Virginia State University. Majoring in criminal justice has provided me with knowledge of not only with the criminal justice system but the juvenile system and community corrections as well. In addition, I have matured personally and I am better prepared to seek employment with a variety of agencies and organizations. While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I took part in many extracurricular activities, while maintaining a grade point average above a 3.0. I’m a proven leader, with the ability to lead by example, who believes teamwork is essential to success, yet very capable of working independently to get the job done as well. I possess many self-developed skills such as; time management, organization, and proficient written and verbal communication skills. I would be a great asset to many agencies, because I know what it means to work hard, while taking responsibility and being held accountable.
