In May of 2015 I graduated from Murray State University with a bachelor’s degree, giving me a well-rounded educational background. In March of 2016 I was sworn in as a deputy jailer with the Calloway County Jail. Making the most of this opportunity, I quickly passed through the ranks and by November of 2019 I had become a Lieutenant and investigator. While performing my duties as a deputy jailer I was certified in and exposed to OC spray and the TASER. I also have over 1,500 hours of training under my belt which ranges from drug identification to sexual assault investigations. In 2018 I attended The Reid Technique of Investigative Interviewing & Advanced Interrogation, a four-day course where I was able to greatly enhance my communication skills as well as learn the importance of body language to determine deception. The investigations position has given me great opportunities to expand my knowledge of law enforcement as I conduct criminal investigations on incidents such as assaults, promoting contraband, and attempted escapes. During these investigations I interview suspects, victims, and witnesses, collect and preserve evidence, maintain chain-of-custody, prepare case files and investigative reports, and pursue criminal charges when necessary. I have also been called to appear and testify before the Court. Realizing that much of the work in law enforcement requires the use of a computer, I have maintained computer skills that I learned while working as a systems technology student worker at Murray State University’s Libraries. I was also certified by Microsoft in Word and PowerPoint.
