About Smita Mitra

My assignment at INTERPOL over last five plus years has been focused on spearheading initiatives that combat child sexual exploitation, working with member countries to build capacity on cyber security robustness and preventing online crimes against children. My previous exposure with United Nations has fortified my leadership in program management, gender justice, and security sector reform. I've harnessed my expertise in women, peace, security and migration to evaluate programs and facilitate multi-country training workshops. I have also worked with funding agencies and social media organizations on trust and safety to drive impactful change. I have also worked as an international consultant with governments, public policy institutions, organizations, industry partners, NGOs and law enforcement agencies to drive transformative policy changes, including demonstrated progress on Sustainable Development Goals. My consulting and advisory experience with organizations like the UNICEF, UNODA, UN Women, SIDA, McArthur Foundation, International Association for Peacekeeping Training Centre’s (IAPTC), Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation, has honed my skills in international relations and public policy, guiding global efforts to achieve gender justice and security sector reform.
