About Sofia Amores

Prior to the pandemic, I was a community college student studying sociology and working part-time at a Japanese restaurant. When the realities of COVID-19 hit, I began to take trade classes as a way to stay engaged with my education. Over the course of the following two years, I attained associates' degrees in sociology, metal fabrication, and welding. So by the time the restrictive norms of the pandemic began phasing out, I was able to transfer to CSUMB to fulfill my goal of attaining a bachelor's degree in Social and Behavioral Science, acquire a full-time job as a CNC programmer at a manufacturing company, and pursue my various interests in music and biology in the beautiful environment of the Monterey Bay. I am currently studying to become a Certified Welding Inspector, am a Student Fellow of #CaliforniansForAll College Corps and am actively involved in a nonprofit climate action organization: Regeneración.
