About Sofia Blackwelder

As a Program Analyst at USDA, I support the implementation of agricultural programs and policies for local farmers and ranchers. I use my skills in ArcGIS, tribal relations, and national fund management to ensure effective and efficient service delivery and compliance. I have a bachelor's degree in international relations from Hawaii Pacific University, where I studied anthropology, development, and sustainability. I am fluent in Spanish, French, and English, and I have a passion for urban agriculture, regenerative farming, climate justice, and ocean health. Before joining USDA, I worked as an Environmental Manager at Tulum Circula, a nonprofit organization that promotes a circular economy and environmental education in the Caribbean. I led a team of volunteers and interns to design and execute projects on waste management, composting, and community engagement. I also supervised a large-scale compost on a terrace farming project for The Woodstock Fruit Festival, where I produced land maps and updated tree irrigation. I bring a unique set of professional experiences and an innovative attitude to every project I work on. I am motivated by the opportunity to advance initiatives that make a positive impact on the environment and society and to never stop learning.
