About Sofia Fraile

I am an aspiring cognitive neuroscientist with a strong interest in memory, learning, and developmental processes in the brain. As an undergraduate researcher at Florida International University’s Honors College, I contributed to behavioral and neuroimaging studies exploring episodic and associative memory, aversive learning, and brain structure and function. My work spans participant-facing roles, data analysis and coding, and the design of 3 secondary projects that I have presented at institutional and national conferences. Alongside my research, I am deeply committed to leadership, collaboration, and outreach. I have served as a neuroscience Learning Assistant, President of Nu Rho Psi, and a student leader in STEM education research through Project VOCES—experiences that have sharpened my ability to mentor others, execute projects/initiatives independently, and promote neuroscience education and research. With training in coding and statistical analyses as well as hands-on experience in both behavioral and neuroimaging methodologies, I pursue a PhD with the aim of contributing to developmental neuroscience research that bridges lab findings with real-world applications, ideally through a medical intervention perspective. I’m always open to conversations and collaborations related to science communication, outreach, and neuroscience research.
