About Sofia Gaio

Sofia Gaio has a diverse and extensive professional experience spanning various fields and roles. She is currently serving as an Invited Professor at Universidade Aberta since 2022. She is also a Partner at Kreab Worldwide, a position she has held since September 2016. Additionally, Sofia has been an Assistant Professor at University Fernando Pessoa since October 1997 and continues to hold this position. She is associated with APECOM (Portuguese Association of Communication Agencies) as the Vice-president since September 2021. Furthermore, Sofia has been working as a Project Manager at First Five Consulting - F5C since May 2014. She is also an International expert at the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education Lithuania, the Croatia Agency for Re-accreditation for Science and Higher Education, and the Latvia Quality Agency for Higher Education. Sofia has international teaching experience at various institutions, including Aristotle University, Kufstein University, Lumsa, and PUC Minas Gerais. Sofia has been involved in the Melomanes project, which focuses on combination therapy for the treatment of metastatic melanoma using magnetic nanoparticles. This project is funded by the European Union and involves a network of academic and non-academic participants from 11 European countries. She has received the National Award of Communication and Justice 2021 in Brazil, which is associated with University Fernando Pessoa. Sofia is also a member of SEAP (Society of European Public Affairs) since January 2023. In terms of education, Sofia holds a PhD in Industrial Management from Universidade de Aveiro and an Executive MBA from LSC London. Her skills include communicating science, public relations, public affairs, corporate communication.
