About Sofia Galvez

When I was a little girl in elementary, I loved helping students that were in the Special Needs Program. During my time of helping students, I learned the basic phrases and saying in American Sign Language while developing my own speaking skills within the IEP program. I have always been wanting to work in a type of environment that will help assist others with special needs or learning disabilities since I have a learning disability called Dyslexia. Now, I am a proud first-generation, Latina student at California State University at Fullerton with a major in Human Services in Humanity and development. CSUF have given me the opportunity to help me gain several small connections with several peers that are experiencing the same first-generation sensation in the I Am First Program. Now that I am the first in my family to attend a four-year university, I am pushing my limits to achieve my dreams and goals while taking any opportunity that is being offered.
