About Sofia Georgitsopoulou

Let me tell you about me! I am a PhD graduate of the Department of Materials Science at the University of Patras, with a solid sales background. In 2016 I received my BSc in Material Science from the School of Natural Sciences of UoP. Aiming to expand my knowledge I decided to continue in the Postgraduate Program of the same Department. During my MSc studies, as a member of the Nano-Chemistry Lab, which operates under the supervision of Professor V. Georgakilas, I gained laboratory and research experience in organic chemistry & drug delivery. Successfully completing my MSc studies with honors, I decided to challenge myself furthermore. I began my PhD studies, emphasizing even more in the potential cure of cancer, using different drug delivery systems. During my research I also received a scholarship for participating in the research project “Development of Aqueous conducive inks based on graphene for gravure and flexography printing (GRAPHEIN)”. This research project has been co-financed by the European Union and Greek national funds. In 2023, I did an internship for three months at ELPEN, a leading Greek Pharmaceutical company, as a formulation scientist in respiratory drugs. During this internship I got the chance to broaden my horizons and I discovered new potentials for my career path. After serious consideration, I decided to take a leap of faith, and I focused on sales. I gained extensive experience in sales while working in the electrical power field. This experience led me to Target Pharma where I currently work as Medical Sales Representative. My scientific background and my character always push me to expand my skills. That is why, from time to time, I attend training seminars, focusing on sales & marketing, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. I am always open to meet new people and broaden my horizon. I would welcome the opportunity to meet you!
