About Sofia K. Lane

Growing up in Tokyo, and going to an all-girls international school, I was privileged to experience many different cultures and perspectives, as well as strong female empowerment that have shaped me to be the person I am today. I'm currently studying sociology, economics, and innovation & entrepreneurship at Waipapa Taumata Rau (University of Auckland) to make a meaningful impact in future generations. Sociology and Economics can often be seen as contradicting majors (I can confirm it is!), but I want to use it to my advantage to understand opposing perspectives and approach any issue with an open mind. I've always had an interest in entrepreneurship, as I was surrounded by many inspiring entrepreneurs from a young age. In the future, I hope to start my own business with the knowledge I have acquired. I'm a firm believer in human rights, especially queer rights, as well as animal rights. I try to give time to advocate for these rights through volunteering, and student advocacy. In my free time I enjoy knitting, watching endless dog videos, and building legos :)
