Behaviour is really hard to change, especially when it comes to health and lifestyle choices. Did you know that there are now strategies to create lasting behavioural change? An experienced researcher and consultant working at the intersection of health economics, behavioural economics, and international development, Sofia is an expert in how to analyse health outcomes for digital innovation, governments, nonprofits, and companies to create and sustain behavioural change. Sofia is passionate about what we eat and how lifestyle choices affect long-term health issues, like cardiovascular health, obesity, and diabetes. Her driving question is, “How can we promote healthier food choices within social and economic institutions that encourage overconsumption and exploit psychological biases?” To date she has worked on research to create behavioural change, linking health datasets and surveys to behavioural data on actual food choices with nutrition apps and continuous glucose monitoring. At present she focuses on diabetes remission, nutrition, cognitive biases in belief formation, and designs wellness programmes to support the adoption and engagement with personal meal plans. She can be reached for her expertise and to consult on projects in behavioural heath, behavioural economics, impact evaluation, needs assessment, market analysis, survey design, and behavioural insights in private/public policies and programmes.
