About Sofia Paasikivi
I graduated 2016 from the University of Turku, where I majored in cultural history, and my minors included archaeology, museum studies, geology and comparative literature. In my studies I specialized in the history of medicine, and my master's thesis was about the historical cholera epidemics in Finland. In archaeology, I have focused on the archaeology of diseases and the ethical questions concerning exhibition of human remains in museums. Even though I have a strong background in humanities I also take keen interest in natural sciences, especially in how they can help us to study our past. I am currently working as the university teacher of museum studies and starting my PhD study in archaeology, as part of SUGRIGE-project, concerning Finnish iron age aDNA.
