About Sofia Paulo

I am a policy professional and advocate deeply committed to economic and social justice, ethical governance, and structural reform. My work is driven by the belief that policy is not neutral—it either reinforces existing power structures or challenges them to create fairer, more equitable outcomes. With a Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Policy from Arizona State University, I bring a research-driven, intersectional and human centered approach to policymaking that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and systemic change. Through my academic and professional experiences—ranging from legislative research and policy analysis to advocacy and stakeholder engagement—I have developed a strong understanding of how public policy shapes economic, racial, and gender justice. My research on economic disparities, government ethics, and intergovernmental relations has reinforced my conviction that effective advocacy must be rooted in truth and accountability. I have worked on issues related to economic inequality, reproductive rights, and ethical lobbying, analyzing how legislative rhetoric can either reinforce or dismantle systemic injustices. My time at MYLA and Living Water Ministries has given me a firsthand understanding of how privilege can be leveraged as a tool for advocacy, rather than a passive reality. I see lobbying as an avenue for ethical, evidence-based policy influence—ensuring that legislative decisions serve the public good, not private interests. Additionally, I am passionate about community organizing and have started a book and social club aimed at mobilizing local communities and uplifting marginalized voices. I believe in the power of storytelling to drive policy change, whether through personal testimony, historical analysis, or legislative discourse.
