About Sofia Pescarin
Research Director at CNR ISPC in Florence, at the Digital Heritage Innovation Lab (DHiLab). With a background in Humanities, Exhibition Design, and a PhD in History and Computing, my work bridges cultural heritage, digital media, and immersive design. Since I have conducted research in Virtual Heritage, coordinating national and European projects, including V-MUST.NET, and currently PERCEIVE (Horizon Europe). My expertise spans virtual museums, interactive media, serious games, and digital museography. I have collaborated on projects such as the Virtual Museum of the Scrovegni Chapel, Keys to Rome, and VR experiences like A Night in the Forum for PlayStation VR. I teach Interactive Media Design at the University of Bologna and serve on the board of the national PhD program in Heritage Science. I am Chief Editor of Digital Applications in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage (Elsevier) and have authored over 100 scientific publications and several books. My current research focuses on AI-enhanced cultural experiences, virtual museum prototyping, and immersive storytelling for heritage communication
