About Sofia Rantala

I am a recent graduate with a degree in chemical engineering, driven by my passion for materials, new technologies and innovations. During my bachelor’s degree, I majored in materials science and minored in bioinformation technology. In my master’s degree I continued focusing on materials science while minoring in chemistry. I have gained extensive knowledge related to materials, including their characterization, thin film deposition techniques, properties and microstructure. My expertise also encompasses inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, nanotechnology, polymers and inorganic materials. For my master’s thesis, I researched nanocellulose cryogels and their sound absorption properties. I possess laboratory skills and have some experience using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Additionally, I have worked as an operator for couple of companies in the industry, where I acquired valuable insights into sensor manufacturing and processes such as PI diagrams. I have strong communication and teamwork skills and I am motivated to continuously learn and tackle new challenges.
