Since 2024, I am working as Credit Policy Manager at Revolut. I've participated in the launch of Personal Loans in Portugal, defining all the underwriting policy and monitoring the credit risk after launch. Between 2016 and 2022 I was a banking supervisor of IRB models and IFRS 9 models in Banco de Portugal (the National Banking Supervisory Authority) in a mixed team with the European Central Bank. From 2022 to 2023 I've conducted Internal Model Investigations to IRB models on behalf of the ECB. These roles provided me a deep knowledge of the regulation and regulatory expectations around IRB and IFRS 9 models. My main tasks were- oversight of IRB models in a large Portuguese bank, ensuring that the IRB models in place were fit for use- oversight of IFRS 9 models, ensuring that the expected credit loss figures were accurate- undertake internal model investigations on behalf of the ECB. Between 2005 and 2016 I worked in bank Montepio, developing internal rating and scoring models for SMEs and retail, implementing these models in the bank's IT systems and estimating Probabilities of Default (PD) and Loss Given Default (LGD). In 2011, I was invited to become the head of the modeling unit. In this role, I was responsible for the team developing all internal models and risk estimates.
