About Sofia Veloso

I have a Master’s degree in Data-Driven Marketing with a focus on Marketing Intelligence from NOVA IMS, where I learned how to turn complex data into valuable insights. Being deeply passionate about sustainability, I decided to explore the effects of extreme drought and water scarcity on consumer behavior in my thesis, specifically studying the impact of water consumption awareness on consumers' choices. My career began at KANTAR as a Client Executive Trainee, where I worked on market research and data analysis in the food retail sector. After that, I joined ALTICE Portugal, the major telecommunications company in Portugal, as a Business Analyst. There, I analyzed telecommunications data using Excel and SQL to support business decisions and provided actionable insights that contributed to business growth. As a side project, I was also part of a Generative AI awareness initiative, which significantly enhanced AI knowledge within my department. After my time at Altice, I decided to embark on a new journey abroad and joined SMBC in Brussels as a KYC Analyst. In my current role, I focus on compliance and risk management through detailed customer due diligence. Proficient in English, Portuguese, and a good knowledge of Italian, I thrive in collaborative environments and am passionate about continuous learning and innovation. I’m eager to contribute to projects that leverage data for strategic decision-making and business success.
