About Sofia Wang

I am currently completing my Master's degree in Biomedical and Health Sciences at Monash University, building on my Honours and undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science. I balance my time between my studies and working part-time as a campus manager and tutor for a tuition centre, as well as a research assistant at the VHI. My commitment to my studies and work has allowed me to foster skills in collaborative teamwork, written and oral communication, and project management. I am passionate about improving health literacy and accessibility, believing that informed patients are empowered patients. I recently completed a 9-month intensive research project that uses co-design to improve accessibility through a health literacy intervention for cardiac patients. I also recently presented my project findings and outcomes at the VHI Innovation Summit 2024 and have been fortunate to win the Hannah Brown Innovation Prize. My experiences have reinforced my desire to make a meaningful impact in health care. With a keen interest in clinical studies and medicine, I aspire to contribute to research that enhances patient outcomes. I pride myself on being an excellent communicator and presenter, skills that I believe are essential for both research and clinical practice.
