About Sofiah Ahmad

I’m currently majoring in Strategic Communication at the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication my passion lies in the intersection of government and law. I have gained valuable experience in the field, including my role at the Fort Bend ISD Communications department where I led and coordinated outreach, education, and advocacy efforts in Sugar Land. This involved promoting cultural competency and government initiatives like voter registration, while collaborating with educational entities, charities, and interfaith organizations. Driven by my determination to create a positive impact, I pursued a internship at the Fort Bend District Attorney Office. This experience allowed me to develop a wide range of skills, including creating trial preparation documents, resolving legal issues, and observing court proceedings. I also took the lead in organizing case files, performing administrative tasks, and analyzing discovery materials in criminal cases. In addition to my work experience, I have been actively involved in organizations that have shaped my perspective. As a Youth Ambassador for the UNICEF Child-Friendly Cities Initiative, I conducted a local plan addressing the lack of accessibility to resources such as healthy food and youth programs. Within the Mayor Youth Advisory Council in the Sugar Land Government, I served as a City Council Moderator officer, engaging in team-building activities and one-on-one discussions with elected officials and city staff. Notably, I implemented a policy plan to raise awareness about Covid-19 vaccination and created a social media campaign to highlight real-life stories. These experiences have solidified my dedication to public service, policy-making, and law. I am eager to contribute my skills and knowledge to make a meaningful difference.
