About Sofie Dericks

I've always been an eager individual ready to snatch any opportunity that comes my way, but with the desire to explore every experience imaginable came the obstacle of being incredibly indecisive. When I began at Florida State University, I had absolutely zero idea on who I wanted to be. So, I tried everything, which meant that I tried nearly every major. I jumped from Neuroscience to Creative Writing, Psychology to Marketing. Although it seemed as if I got a taste for most careers, I still couldn't figure out what mine would ever be. I prayed that someday it would come to me like a vision; a burning passion that would leave me restless. Yet, as semesters went on, I realized that the problem wasn't about finding who I was, it was about finding what I wanted. Creative, disciplined, and persistent, I know now that I want to work in an environment where I see reward following action. Just like how I loved a good race in high school, I want to cross the finish line when it comes to working towards a goal. As I’ve gained experience in customer service and retention, I find that I excel in a fast-paced environment where ambition and adaptability meet success. Being a server for the largest sports bar in Florida has taught me skills that aren’t found flipping through textbooks, but instead found lingering in the stories and life lessons from customers themselves. I’m looking for a summer internship that can flourish the values I’ve grown throughout my undergraduate career, and I’m excited to explore a position that doesn’t pave the road for me, but shows me how to craft it myself.
