About Sofie Olbers
Sofie Olbers has been working and teaching in the field of (inter-) cultural and social education work for over ten years. In 2021, she completed her doctorate on the topic of theatre and cultural work in the context of refugees with a postcolonial perspective at the Faculty of Education at the University of Hamburg and the Department of Social Work at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. In 2015, together with friends, she founded the German-Senegalese educational initiative Système-D, which organises cultural youth exchanges and further education around the topic of sustainability and environmental protection. As a certified intercultural trainer, she gives courses at universities and associations on diversity, intercultural communication and power-sensitive practice. During her studies and afterwards, she worked as a practical-artistic assistant director at the Hamburg transnational centre Hajusom theatre-performances with young people with refugee and migration experience.
