About Soham Surve

I’m a Mechanical Engineer with a passion for Automotive Testing, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing. My experience includes developing EV propulsion systems, designing test benches, and optimizing processes using Lean tools like SPC and Root Cause Analysis. I’ve benchmarked systems against industry leaders like Tesla and Lucid and worked on hands-on projects that blend technical innovation with practical application. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I’ve mentored students in automotive and component testing, as well as system-level engineering challenges, including designing autonomous cranes and optimizing air-handling units for NICU standards. In my current role as a Research Analyst, I assist in developing and delivering hands-on training in energy and mobility systems for students and industry professionals, focusing on advanced techniques and practical applications to enhance learning outcomes. I’m also collaborating on a U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center project to simulate and validate a hybridized FED Alpha military vehicle in MATLAB Simulink. My work involves tuning model parameters, running simulations on custom off-road cycles, and analyzing thermal signature and fuel efficiency across varied terrains. With a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Tech and a Bachelor’s from the University of Mumbai, I’m seeking full-time roles starting September 2024 in Test Engineering, Powertrain, or Quality. I aim to apply my diverse skill set to drive innovation in automotive and power systems while fostering operational excellence.
