About Sohan Suvarna

As a techpreneur, I lead the charge in developing cutting-edge unmanned systems that redefine what's possible in aerospace and defense technology. With a joint PhD from IIT Bombay and Monash University, I bring a unique blend of rigorous academic foundation and practical innovation to solve complex challenges in aerial robotics. I pioneered the development of India's first long endurance Aerostatic Drone, marking a significant milestone in indigenous aerospace innovation.I have guided multidisciplinary teams in creating next-generation drones, unmanned systems, airships, and aerostats that serve critical missions—from border surveillance to disaster response. Having delivered several mission-critical projects, I've developed persistent surveillance platforms operating 3X longer than conventional systems, implemented formation algorithms for drones, and architected underwater guidance, navigation and control (GNC) algorithms for underwater vehicles. My work has contributed to reducing mission costs by 50% while enhancing operational capabilities for defense and commercial applications. Every solution is indigenously developed under the Make in India initiative, strengthening our nation's self-reliance.Core expertise includes:• Strategic R&D leadership and technology roadmapping• Autonomous control systems• Design optimization for unmanned aerial vehicles• Defense innovation and dual-use technology development• Product management from concept to deployment• Cross-functional team building and mentorshipI'm passionate about fostering innovation ecosystems and regularly collaborate with defense establishments, academic institutions, and industry partners. My approach combines technical excellence with strategic thinking to deliver solutions that matter.Currently focused on advancing India's position in the global UAV market, exploring lighter-than-air solutions, and developing sustainable aerial platforms for defense and various other civilian applications, in line with India's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.Let's connect if you're: → Interested in aerospace innovation and defense technology → Seeking expertise in unmanned systems development → Seeking expertise in Lighter-than-air systems (Airships and Aerostats) → Looking for strategic partnerships in autonomous systems → Passionate about the future of aerial roboticsOpen to advisory roles, speaking engagements, and collaborative ventures that push the envelope of what's possible in the skies.Reach out for transformative conversations about the future of flight.
