About Solomon Abreha

Solomon Abrha is an assistant professor at Wolaita Sodo University. Coordinator, Wolaita Sodo University, Abela Abaya Health and demographic surveillance site of (September 2016 to Jun 2019), able to accomplish preparatory actives such as started collaboration with AMU HDSS and provide training for team members and staff on ODK and Open HDS software, tablet purchasing, recruiting data data collectors and giving training, baseline tool development compatible to ODK and Open HDS during my term. Research related experience: conducted my masters thesis using the three EDHS data sets. Consultant/Regional Coordinator for PMA cross sectional surveys on Family Planning since 2014 on a yearly basis and two cycles of cohort studies on RMNCH (Reproductive maternal new born and child health indicators) since 2019. • Multi-disciplinary professional experience in the field of public health, research and community services with extensive experience in design, development and implementation of different types of projects. I have prompt experience of research and project as a principal investigator and advisee. My area of expertise goes with maternal and child health, family planning and chronic diseases and risk factors for chronic diseases. • I have adequate experiences in in coordinating large scale cross community and facility based sectional and longitudinal surveys on Maternal and child health care and family planning. • Training on research methods, research ethics and grant writing, held in Wolaita Sodo University • Training on Meta-analysis and Meta synthesis held at Wolaita Sodo University, 2017. • Training on STATA software and advanced research training skill held at Wolaita Sodo University. • Qualitative research training which was held at Wolaita Sodo University. • Took different Online trainings • Work in surveys in different capacities Professional affiliations, special appointments, memberships, and Research Participation etc: • Member of the Global Burden of Disease collaborator network (2016-now) • Regular Member of Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) • Member, Academic Committee for school of public health, Wolaita Sodo University (2016- now) • Regional Coordinator for PMA 2020 Ethiopia, National Survey on Family planning and work as supervisor and Enumerator on related national surveys.
