About Sonam Sonam

Prior to commencing my Master’s degree, I worked as an Electrical Analyst at Druk Holding and Investments Limited, bringing over nine years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems and renewable energy. My expertise spans the erection, testing, and commissioning of distribution transformers, Ring Main Units (RMUs), low-tension distribution boards, non-segregated bus ducts, and A2 structures. I was also responsible for underground cable laying, load balancing, and conducting detailed electricity bill analysis to optimize energy use. Additionally, I led the successful installation and commissioning of two rooftop solar PV systems with capacities of 3.4 kW and 3.6 kW.Earlier, I served as an Assistant Executive Engineer at the Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project Authority, where I led teams in designing house wiring layouts, performing load and cable sizing calculations, and overseeing the installation of power transformers, Isolated Phase Bus Ducts (IPBDs), dry-type transformers, and substation equipment. I also managed contract budgeting and project administration. I hold a Master’s in Smart and Renewable Electrical Power Systems from Murdoch University.
