About Sonia E.

With over 15 years of work experience in education, media, and diversity, I am currently a Senior Coordinator as part of the Inclusive Community at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). In this role, I collaborate with campus and community partners to develop and implement programs, initiatives, and resources that foster a culture of inclusion, equity, and belonging for all students, faculty, and staff. I also leverage my digital media skills to create and disseminate content that showcases the diverse voices, perspectives, and achievements of the UCO community. My passion for empowering fellow Latinas to reach the pinnacle of success in the corporate world has been the driving force behind my inspiring first-generation immigrant journey. Beyond my role as a corporate Latina and speaker, I dedicate my time to mentorship and empowering Latinas at every stage of their careers. I continue to be a strong advocate for fostering inclusive workplaces where diversity is celebrated, and where Latinas and other minorities are provided equal opportunities to excel.Previously, I was a TRIO Manager at Chicago State University, where I managed a federally funded grant program that supported low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students in achieving their academic and career goals. I also worked as a Hispanic Outreach Executive, a Hispanic Admissions and Enrollment Specialist, a Senior Media Specialist, and a Copywriter for various organizations and media outlets. I will soon hold a Doctor of Education and Leadership, currently hold a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies. I am fluent in Spanish and proficient in CRM and Data management, Social Networking, and Audio/Video Editing. My core competencies include inclusive community building, educational leadership, digital media production, and intercultural communication. I am passionate about creating and promoting a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive society through education and media. I hope that my journey as a Latina academic, mother, speaker, and corporate leader is a testament to the power of determination, resilience, and the ability to embrace one's roots.
