Everyone has something fascinating to say, and I am determined to hear it.Serving as a conduit for those that want change or have an engaging story fuels my love of publishing. I strive to give a chance to the previously unpublished and unconventional forms, and I have an extra soft spot for horror that critiques and or reflects on the monsters of the real world. As co-owner and lead poetry editor of Lodestar Lit Journal, I am adamant that radical literature will never die. In times of turbulent uncertainty, it amplifies the voices of those often overlooked and emphasizes the complexities of the human experience for those different from us. I always keep that mission in mind when picking what pieces to publish and come armed with justifications about why we should or should not select a piece. It is always extra special when Lodestar is a writer’s first publication to feature their work, and I love each exchange I have with all our submitters, regardless of whether they were accepted or not. My current role in Learning and Development seems like a strange steppingstone, but the creativity the job requires, and its people-focused nature has strengthened the skills I apply to publishing. I am an advocate for the training needs of each employee and can make good and quick judgements on what training projects we should take on. My attention is balanced between employees, temporary staffing agency representatives, and training platform troubleshooters. Often, I am creating a new training class, monitoring trainee progress on an old one, and editing documents all at the same time. What I love most is how the position allows me to hear new stories from people every day, and I am eager to transfer the experiences this job has gifted me to professional publishing.Everyone has an engaging story.
