About Sonia Teas

Sonia Teas is Associate General Counsel at Genus plc, with global legal responsibility for the ABS business and bovine-related R&D initiatives. Since joining Genus in 2011, she has been a key legal and strategic advisor across a wide range of business-critical areas, including mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and complex commercial transactions. Sonia brings a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset to her work, partnering closely with global teams to align legal strategy with business priorities, manage risk, and drive long-term value. Over her 13-year tenure, Sonia has led high-impact negotiations and supported cross-functional initiatives that have shaped Genus’s growth and innovation in animal genetics. She is known for her ability to translate legal complexity into actionable guidance, enabling business leaders to move forward with confidence. Sonia holds a BA from Grinnell College and earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Prior to law school, she worked as an analyst at MedStar Research Institute in Washington, DC, where she developed her strong foundation in research and critical analysis. Originally from Chicago, she now resides in Madison, Wisconsin with her two children.
