About Sonja Robert-Steeves

I'm originally from Timmins, Ontario. Growing up in a secluded and rural area was great. You knew your neighbours, it was safe to play outside until the street light came on, and you learned how to survive in the bush (how to build a fire comes in handy;)). When I graduated from O'Gorman High School, I moved out West to attend the University of Victoria to study Political Science and Sociology. After graduating with a double B.A, I had the opportunity to move overseas to teach ESL. And, that's how my journey began. I love people, diversity, culture, and everything there is to learn something new. I need to be challenged in my professional life.always learning something new and growing professionally and personally. I've learned a few lessons along the way: life/work balance, need vs want, the majority of people you meet are kind, generous, and willing to help, be open to new opportunities, the glass is always half full, go with your gut because it never leads you astray, and it's okay to plan for the future but appreciate the present because you never know what curve ball may come your way.
