Background
About Sonja Taylor
Travel. Learn. Care.In the simplest terms, I believe that educators are situation facilitators. We facilitate spaces for learning. Of course, there is nothing simple about creating a space that encourages curiosity and provides the opportunity to make mistakes for students from multiple backgrounds in a way that is culturally responsive and sustaining. We must be nimble, caring, knowledgeable, humble, vulnerable, resilient, strong and tenacious. We must provide structure, yet be flexible. Importantly, we must be actively engaged in ongoing learning of our own. It is a solemn responsibility to serve our students and I take this responsibility very seriously, with gratitude for the joy that comes from engaging in the meaningful work of learning together.
