About Sonjoy Das

A strong core of creative urge and emotions drive my multiple forms of expression. Often I express my feelings, experiences, stories, concepts & ideas through a variety of media. I come from fine arts, advertising and filmmaking background. In the span of my career so far, my journey in the creative field has been varied – Fortunately, I got to work on various projects as I am a multidisciplinary artist. I did four years graduation in Fine Arts (BFA) with specialisation in Applied Art from College of Art, New Delhi. Even though I always wanted to be a painter since my childhood. But the notion that painters usually don’t do well financially was instilled in me by society. Hence, the fear of dying starving compelled me to take up Applied Art (Commercial Art) instead of Painting in my graduation. Also, I had no clue that I had interest in music. During my school time, I used to play Dhaak (a large drum, a percussive music instrument played especially during Durga puja) on desks, sofas, almirahs and pencil box with pencils and occasionally real Dhaak as well but never realised it. After getting exposed to creative & artistic environment and meeting like minded people in art school, I discovered my love for music. After completing my 4 years of graduation from a reputed art college, College of Art, New Delhi, I was very confused as to what to do next as I had interest in advertising, painting, illustration, designing, animation, filmmaking and music. Finally, I ended up working in few reputed advertising agencies in creative department for sometime. Thereafter I left advertising to pursue 3 years Post Graduation in Cinema with specialization in Cinematography (Motion Picture Photography) from a prestigious national film school, SRFTI (Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute), Kolkata. Besides, I have composed many songs for myself and worked commercially as a music composer for few ad jingles as well. Although, I do not have any formal education in music but my passion for music makes me explore it more and more. If given a chance, I would like to study music further and music production also. I mainly play guitar and compose music but also like to try my hands at playing other musical instruments and writing songs. Feel free to contact me for any work and career opportunity. You can get in touch with me on my phone also (+91 9211303349) Thanks :)
