Background
About Sonya Arrington
MATV evolved out of personal tragedy to incorporate a youth diversion program, frequent talks to a diverse long list of schools and groups all over Erie, a parent group, and special community minded events through the year. We've held a Candlelight Vigil and Talent Show every early January since 2011. The sizeable cash prizes draw out a wonderful list of young acts each year.In 2014, MATV held its first Erie Youth Summer Job Fair. Great local employers like Wegmans, Brevillier Village, Country Fair, Scott Enterprises and the Erie Zoo participated. The successful event was put on again in March of 2015.The Mother's Day weekend March Against Violence and Rally to Increase the Peace is in its 6th year in 2015. A Community Picnic at Roger Young park is a July staple.August 2015 will mark the second year for Get Up, Get Ready and Go, a truancy prevention back to school event. The Fall Festival for Kids in late October has been a great success for two years. MATV and SSJNN welcomed 200 neighborhood children with games, years and activities in 2014 and will do the same in 2015.
