About Sonya Lackey

I have been an elementary school teacher for 24 years, 20 of which have been in the same school building. I am dedicated to my work and put my best foot forward on a daily basis in order to service my students at the highest level. I strive to teach my students the required curriculum as well as life strategies to help them grow and become productive members of society. Over the years, I have served in several leadership positions within the school. Positions such as Team Leader, Co-Chair of the school’s Instructional Leadership Team, school safety sponsor, and I have chaired various other school committees. I have high expectations for myself, which carries over to the expectations I have of others; students and adults. I lead by example when working with my students and coworkers. I feel that it is crucial to be confident in what you do, yet humble enough to reach out for help and guidance when necessary. At the end of the day, happy students and staff members will be more productive. Though it is not written in my job description, I feel as if it is my job to do everything in my power to make sure there is high productivity throughout the building.
