About Sonya Tobing

Sonya is a Country Manager at Cambridge University Press and Assessment,part of the University of Cambridge, UK. It is the world’s leading range of qualifications and tests for learners and teachers of English. She helps Cambridge Assessment English in any activity in Indonesia to support all learners and teachers of the English language in the archipelagic country. She arranges the strategic deal with the prominent figures of the country such as ministry officials, governors, the local mayor of the cities, as well as business leaders to make a significant impact for every learner. She builds relationships with assessment centres, key educational institutions and government authorities in Indonesia, as well as strengthening ties and long-term partners in the region. She initiates Cambridge Assessment English in Indonesia to had a strategic partnership with world-leading digital and telecom companies in Indonesia to promote the company's product with the relevant stakeholders. Before work in Cambridge Assessment English, Sonya helps I Can Read (ICR) in the franchise sales business. She got the trust of her client to make a significant impact on profit for ICR. She joined ICR when it only had 19 education centres, then she successfully increases the number to 54 education centres and growing continuously. In the ICR, she manages national sales and service quality across Indonesia. She has also been involved in a variety of strategic projects and significant commercial transactions, not only for national sales growth but also for investor/client satisfaction. Sonya is pursuing her MBA at Central Queensland University, Australia, She was graduated from the University of Diponegoro. She studied Business and Law. During her university years, she was actively involved in various organisations and work experience as a radio announcer. Prior to joining I Can Read Indonesia (ICR), Sonya worked for almost two years in English First (EF), an English global provider as Senior Education Consultant which she got the best retention sales at EF, and Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) a leading commercial banks in the country for six years. In BNI, as service quality and senior corporate sales, she was elected as Duta Layanan BNI due to her achievement in setting high standards for customer quality. Her main expertise is strategic sales management, business communication, sales initiative and growth strategy, client and investor relations, public speaking and strategic partnership.
