About Sonya Yu

I’m a multi-hyphenate creative, coach, strategist and collector with roots in the art, fashion, startup and branding worlds. My personal mission is to cultivate local creative communities and ignite positive social change by championing artists, their visions and creative rights. WHAT I DO I’m the founder of Four One Nine, a creative ecosystem focused on cultivating culture and artists in San Francisco. I’m also a founding editor of MYLES, a magazine that tells stories through the lens of streetwear, style and culture. WHY I’M FOR HIRE I thrive on discovering people’s passions. I do this through one-on-one coaching to empower creatives to bring their authentic selves to the world. I also conduct interviews for publications, television and podcasts so others understand what inspires creative people’s paths — and can follow suit. As an entrepreneur, I lead clients on go-to-market, brand and business strategy. My method combines deep listening and intense research to tap into someone’s core differentiator and effectively convey that to the marketplace. From Fairfax to Folsom to Funding, I go high and low on what’s culturally relevant now and bring that knowledge to every project. EXTRACURRICULARS I serve on the nonprofit boards of SFMOMA, The Hammer Museum and am an active member of the Dia Women Committee.
