About Soobin Choi

I am a born and raised New Yorker who has, and will continue to love this city. My favorite memory of growing up here is going to all the fabulous museums the city has to offer. One of my favorites is the transit museum which I highly recommend to every single tourist in this city (it's the best, no ifs or buts). I am a full time student at NYU studying Applied Psychology at Steinhardt. Although I originally came into NYU with dreams of being a journalist, my plans changed after some hard contemplation. I realized that if I wanted to give back to my community then I wanted to do it in a more direct and personal way—counseling and therapy. I have interned at Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement, Volunteered at BIHS, and Heart of Dinner in an effort to begin my journey of social work. Although it's been disheartening as of late, it doesn't discourage me! I am a very hopeful person that believes not matter how desperate the situation is, there will always be a way out. I have met so many wonderful people along my journey, my old high school principal, my literature professor from college, a journalist on the subway, and many more. These tiny pockets of life are what has kept me going and are part of why I love this city so much. You can find me playing ping pong with some of my friends near Herald Square where the old men are grouchy and can really serve! I love a conversation with a stranger, please have a chat with me!
