About Sophia Thommes

I am a recent graduate from UW- River Falls with a major in Animal Science with a meat animal management emphasis. My college job was cutting meat, making product, and cleaning machines. I come from a background of agriculture - growing up on my family's hobby farm that cares for chickens, pigs, sheep, goats, honey bees, and beef cattle. One of my most notable accomplishments is creating and making plans up for New Richmond's High School first lab farm with the goal of bringing students back to their roots, knowing where their food comes from, and then providing the school district with our homegrown animals. I invested a lot of thought and time into this project that my ag teacher presented to me and one other student as a junior in high school. From that moment on, we made people believe and to this day it's still thriving and growing. I have passion and drive for improving and spreading the good word through knowledge for the great agriculture industry. I get to continue this passion by teaching students on how to cut meat and all the different aspects of the industry.
