Background

About Soumy Phan

I am currently a Project Officer and Trainer with DW Akademie. Before that I was a Program Manager and Head of Communication Department at Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Cambodia in charge of Media & Journalism. I had previously worked as a communication consultant and freelance journalist. I reported and wrote primarily in English for news publications and agencies, including the Australian Associated Press (AAP) and the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA). I had also provided translation, research and communications consultancy services to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), international organizations, research institutes, and real estate companies. I started my journalistic career as a reporter for the former English language newspaper The Cambodia Daily, for which I reported on the subjects of socio-economic, environmental, and drug-related issues. I was born in Sihanoukville and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English literature.
