About Souparnika Jayakumar

As an Assistant Engineer at Atkins, I was involved in the concept, preliminary and detailed process design of the Hydrogen-3 Advanced Technology (H3AT) nuclear fusion project with UKAEA, one of the most innovative and ambitious energy initiatives in the world. I prepared Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Equipment Datasheets, Layout Assessments, Design Definition Documents, Heat Transfer Calculations, Vacuum Line Sizing, and Cryogenic Research, and participated in HAZOP/LOPA studies. I also supported a team of 100 nuclear engineers in document management and VDI integration, and co-ordinated BIM activities for the entire project, using Bentley ProjectWise software.I have a Master of Technology degree in Green Energy Technology from Pondicherry University, India, where I learned about various renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, and hydrogen, and their applications, challenges, and opportunities. I also have a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, India, where I gained a solid foundation in chemical process engineering, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction engineering. My previous work experience includes preparing safety assessment reports for various nuclear fission power stations under EDF Energy in UK, and designing process flow diagrams, P & IDs, MSDs, and PDSs for a hexane recovery unit of a tons/year HDPE plant for TechnipFMC.I am passionate about exploring and developing sustainable and innovative energy solutions that can address the global challenges of climate change, energy security, and environmental protection. I have strong skills in relief valve sizing, line sizing, nuclear fission and fusion, ASPEN Hysys simulation, and BIM. I am a collaborative, adaptable, and creative engineer who enjoys working with diverse teams and stakeholders, and learning new technologies and best practices. My goal is to leverage my engineering expertise and green energy knowledge to contribute to the advancement and transformation of the energy industry.
