About Sourav Basak

As a Scientific Officer at Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), I have been involved in the structural analysis and design of various safety-related structures of nuclear power plants for over 10 years. I have a master's degree in earthquake engineering (specialisation in structural dynamics) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and I am proficient in ABAQUS, and related tools. My mission is to ensure the safety and resilience of the nuclear facilities in India, and to contribute to the development of new and innovative solutions for the nuclear energy sector. I have performed seismic margin assessment, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, geotechnical investigation, and foundation design for different types of reactors and structures. I have also prepared tender documents, technical specifications, and site investigation reports for new nuclear power plant projects. In addition, I have provided training and mentoring to the new engineers in my team and organization. Actively involved in site selection studies for NPPs in india. Co-ordination with various national and international bodies for assessment of the NPPs and resolving site related queries.
