About Spencer Hertle

My journey in the marketing realm began when I started my freshman year in engineering classes at the University of Minnesota (yes, you heard that right). I had taken a job at Boston Scientific as a technician in the manufacturing department and was approached by a marketing manager during my time there. During our conversations, he probed at my career goals and challenged me to try marketing classes in school. The following semester, I took some marketing courses and the rest was history. I fell in love with marketing and was very fortunate for my technical experience because it allowed me to dig into the analytic side of marketing, which led to my internship role at Olympus as an upstream product marketing intern. This role enabled me to take my technical experience and channel it into data analytics, making the internship experience extremely valuable to me. I developed a career goal to become a marketing director, and to achieve that goal I hope to thoroughly understand the two sides of marketing- the analytics side of it and the creative communication side. I decided to add a focus in communication studies with my degree in marketing, in hopes of understanding the creative communication side of marketing. After I graduated in December of 2021, I was presented with an opportunity to work at Fastenal's headquarters as a marketing strategist. I seized the opportunity and have loved working in the position thus far- There is so much to explore in the creative communication side of marketing and I look forward to the experience I will gain on my way to accomplish my career goals down the line.
